I’ve almost never written about my actual cravings which  was the initial inspiration for the name of this blog. I suppose it’s a good thing because for the most part if I’m craving something I go out and get it shortly after. I try not to deny what the stomach wants especially since you only get so many meals in a lifetime; why deprive yourself right?

Well I’ve had a serious craving lately for something similar to the photo below.

I’m really in the mood for crispy chicken tossed in a spicy sauce, perhaps a General Tso’s recipe. The spicer the better too as I’ve been really loving everything extra spicy these days.

If you have a recipe that you think I’d enjoy, please leave a link and I’ll definitely have a look and add it to my recipe list. I have yet to actually look and find a recipe I’d enjoy.

I often get sushi cravings considering there isn’t a multitude of good places to go in Kingston which is real shame. So when I manage to make the trip back to Toronto I instantly think of certain foods in hopes of satisfying my cravings until I finally come home for the summer. I have a definite fav place to go for my sushi craving which is out in Whitby (Sushi Mountain, yum!) but I’m always open to new suggestions especially ones closer to where I live. A friend of mine, J suggested heading to a place in Markham for All U Can Eat and I was happy to accompany. I had limited amounts of time to spend so we decided to go for lunch.

I had come to this specific plaza several times to visit other surrounding places but had never noticed the Japanese sushi place on the side. J often came here with friends for crazy feasts from what he described. I was certainly eager to see what they had and definitely hungry.

Lately I’ve been reading a lot of blogs/articles on the delightful dessert, macarons. No, not the coconut base macaroons, the french pastry macarons. They’re so beautiful, cute and from what I read, really delicious. I’ve been in search for a place in Toronto that does them as I highly doubt that anyone in Kingston is baking them up (anyone care to prove me wrong?).  I’ve read many mixed reviews, some praising certain shops in Toronto while others suggesting that the search continue elsewhere. Many of those who are against what can be found in Toronto are opposed because they state that the ones done in France are much better. well no duh?! But unfortunately a trip to Paris is not exactly on my upcoming list so I’ll have to settle for what’s close by.

Now you can’t exactly crave what you’ve never tasted so I can’t normally describe it but I have a feeling that I’ll like them, no love them and my foreign craving is taking me to the streets of downtown in search of macarons, good or bad (how would I even know the difference, I’ve never tasted them!) I’m rather excited and have place my food spending on hold the last 2 weeks just to prep myself for what’s to come because I have a distinct feeling I’m going to need to spend a little extra to bring some home.

I blame it all on this blog whose extensive tasting has made me crave one for myself. I can’t wait for sat.

I am having a major chocolate craving right now. I’m craving something chocolatey and creamy with nuts. I feel restless. Man, I must have it bad. I can’t even properly express to you my craving because all I can think about it running out to get it which… I think I’m going to have to go do. I’ll update later.

Updated: I quickly ran down to the doller store (man I love living downtown) and picked up a couple Mr.Big’s (cause well, size matters lol), a Reeses Pieces and some caramels. Now that I have it, I actually don’t have my craving anymore. That’s so like me, only wanting things that I don’t have and once I have them, losing complete interest. I’ll probably eat them later tonight when I need a sugar boost =)

My apartment is freezing and I haven’t gone grocery shopping in ages. I’ve done well thus far but I’m really due to buy some fresh food soon, especially more vegetables. What I could really go for right now (and I’ve been craving it all day) is a warm bowl of minestrone soup. I’ve probably had a homemade version once and probably liked it but since I’m not prepared to make it from scratch just to satisfy a craving, the packaged kind will do. Its been a long while since I warmed some up and every time I do, my sister sneaks into the kitchen and pours herself a big bowlful without me noticing (ahh, the many perks of siblings).

I like the truly hearty kinds with big chunks of vegetables, beans and pasta. Soup with some crusty warm bread…mmmmm. I can just feel the warmth of it now. I believe it’s fairly healthy for you too as long as it’s not too high in sodium. Now I’m not the biggest fan of soups as I often feel like they’re not satisfying enough but cold days just scream out for soup.

Definitely going to need to put that on my to-buy list esp with the cold creeping in.
